In South Africa domestic violence is a social problem but it is viewed as a private matter. It becomes a point of concern when the department of safety, security and liaison receives complaints related to the attitude and perceptions of police officers towards the victims of domestic violence. This prompted the department to conduct a research on knowledge, attitudes and perceptions of police officers towards the victims of domestic violence in Limpopo Province.
